ALMONT POLICE HALT LOCAL LARCENIES

A HUGE THANK YOU TO THE ALMONT POLICE DEPARTMENT FOR THEIR QUICK ACTION IN PUTTING AN END TO A STRING OF LOCAL LARCENIES–Seventeen people in Almont Township reported that they had vehicles that were illegally entered early Monday morning between the hours of 1:00 a.m. and 5:00 a.m. All the vehicles were unlocked. Phone chargers, GPS devices, change, sunglasses and a laptop computer were taken. After being alerted to the larcenies, Almont Police Officers went door to door in order to ask residents if they had seen or heard anything that might be helpful in solving the crimes. Less than 24 hours after the initial thefts occurred and acting on tips from local residents, a small group of local young people were caught and arrested. Most of the stolen items have been returned to the owners.

I spoke with Chief Nael today and he wanted to urge all residents to please lock their doors and lock their vehicles, especially at night.   He also asked that residents call the Almont Police Department at 810-798-8300 if they see anything suspicious at any time. Thanks again to the Almont Police Department for helping keep our families and our communities safe. Great Job!
